February 6, 2008

Today saw the the race for the World Series of Poker crown start in earnest on Bodog Poker. The online poker room looks set to offer more than 120 seats to its players as it holds a number of satellites leading up the main event on July 3rd.

The satellites (named Main Event Semifinals), are to be held on a weekly basis with the first one being held tonight. They’ll be played every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday evenings with each one offering its winner a package worth $12,000: a $10,000 entry to the WSOP Main event and $2,000 for travel expenses.

What’s even better news for potential players is that Bodog have announced plans to add further main-event qualifiers, which should push the free WSOP seats on offer up past the 120 mark.

Tournaments have started now with a buyin of $250+50, but there are plenty of qualifiers starting for as little as $1 or 100 player points for those who are looking to push their bankroll that little bit further.

Places can also be won via Bodog’s regular Player’s Choice tournaments. Winners of this weekly tournament can use their prize as an entracnce fee to any $10,000 including the World Series of Poker Main Event itself.
