Full Tilt’s end of year bonus for players

November 30, 2008

Full Tilt Poker have announced that they will be offering a Year End bonus to all their players.

The bonus (known as the Iron Man) is calculated by taking into account how many months you’ve qualified for the Iron Man Challenge since July with the money being paid out at the beginning of next year.

The levels relating to the Iron Man Challenge are as follows:

Bronze $25/month
Silver $50/month
Gold $75/month
Iron $100/month

As an example, if you’ve qualified for one month at Bronze level, two at silver and one more at Gold, then you can expect to earn a bonus of $200.

Those of you who haven’t reached an Ironman level in the second half of this year can still qualify for a bonus by participating in the Iron Man challenge in December.

One thing to bear in mind though, is that you need to op-in to the Iron Man challenge in order to be eligible for this bonus. To check your current status, click on the “My promotions” tab in the cashier area.

$3,000 trip to Vegas available at PKR

November 17, 2008

The Road to Vegas this week gives PKR players the opportunity to qualify for a $3,000 freeroll which will see the winner on the way to Vegas to take part in the WSOP 2009.

This is a freeroll with a difference though. Players will need to earn their chip stack by playing any real money Sit and Go Tournament on PKR. Players will get one freeroll chip for every dollar that they win, meaning that the more you win in your Sit N Go, the more chips you’ll sit down with at the freeroll tournament. Earn $1,500 in your Sit N Go, and sit down at the freeroll with 1,500 chips.

This is just the latest promotion in PKR’s Road to Vegas program which will ultimately see PKR send 33 players off to the WSOP to compete in a variety of bracelet events.

Each player will receive a tournament package worth at least $1,500 for travel and accommodation and players will be able to choose which tournament they want to enter.

Peter Eastgate becomes youngest player to win WSOP

November 11, 2008

Peter Eastgate22 year old Peter Eastgate has won the 2009 World Series of Poker, and written his name into the history books at the same time.

The Danish professional becomes the youngest player to ever win the WSOP, beating the previous record held by Phil Helmuth by two years and he heads back to Odense with the first prize of $9,152,416 - the second largest payout in poker history.

Not bad at all, when you think that he only turned professional three years ago.

It was by no means a straight forward victory though. Eastgate originally started the final table in fourth position and was gracious enough to admit that luck had played a large part in his victory:

“I was lucky on the last hand. Ivan (Demidov) had two pair and I had a wheel. Just because I won the heads-up does not mean that I’m a better player than him. it goes to show that it is sometimes good to be lucky.”

His victory marks the end of a huge journey for the student who became “fascinated” by the  “psychological aspects” of poker while at school. It’s a journey that the PokerStars professional admits hasn’t quite sunk in yet.

“I do not think I have realized yet what a big moment this is,” he told reporters after his picking up his bracelet.

“It will come the next days and weeks. I expect I will get emotional about it later. But not as much now.”

Eastwood’s previous biggest win had occurred at the in the 2007 Irish Open when he had walked away with £30,000
